Why You’ll Love This Green Juice

  • It’s simple, healthy, and delicious! This green juice is similar to my green smoothie in that it delivers a drinkable form of several wholesome vegetables and fruits. The main difference is that there’s no pulp in this juice.
  • You can control the sweetness. Some juice bars will toss in extra fruit to make their versions sweeter, increasing the sugar content. But with this recipe, you can control exactly how much of each ingredient is in your juice.
  • It’s a money saver. The price of juice bar drinks is often exorbitant and hard to justify. Especially when you can make the same drink at home – for far less!
  • No fancy juicer needed. You don’t need to buy an expensive juicer to make this recipe. All you need is a blender and some way to strain the juice, like a fine mesh strainer or a nut milk bag. Super easy.

Green Juice Ingredients

This recipe delivers a balance of vibrant green veggies and a hint of natural sweetness, from the apples. It’s one of my favorite juice combinations and if you love Pressed Juicery, it’s a copycat of one of their most popular juices.

  • Leafy Greens: I’m using a combination of kale and baby spinach, for a complex grassy flavor and gorgeous emerald color. But you can swap in your favorite leafy greens, if you have others you prefer.
  • Celery: A few stalks of celery adds fiber, and a subtle saltiness to the juice.
  • Cucumber: It’s refreshing and mild in flavor. It’s also the main sources of liquid in this recipe.
  • Fresh Ginger: It adds a spicy zing, brightness, and anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Lime Juice: It’s amazing how much lime juice really livens up the flavors.
  • Apples: A couple of apples adds to the liquid and provides natural sweetness to balance out the other flavors.

How To Make The Best Green Juice

  • Blend all the ingredients. Add all of the ingredients to your high-powered blender, and blend for about 3 minutes, or until it’s smooth. Adding the cucumber first, so it’s closest to the blades, will help it blend easier.
  • Strain the juice. Use a fine-mesh strainer to strain the liquid, pressing on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much juice as possible. Alternatively, you can also use a nut milk bag (which is my favorite method).
  • Chill and serve. Transfer the juice to the fridge until it’s cold. Then, pour into a glass and enjoy! Just remember that the juice may turn a bit brown the longer it sits, but that’s only because the apples oxidize. It’s still fine to drink!

Customize Your Green Juice

Use my recipe as a starting point and experiment with different ingredients based on what’s in season or looks good at the grocery store. Here’s a few tips:

  • Add lots of greens. Look for high-quality fresh greens that are firm and bright in color, not wilted or spotted. I use dino kale in this recipe, but other kale varieties or chard work well for blending. If you like romaine lettuce or collards, try those too! A blend of a few greens will give your juice a more complex flavor.
  • Stick with a healthy liquid base. Use vegetables like celery and cucumber to provide moisture in your juice blend. Or if you prefer, use coconut water. It’s best not to add lots of fruit or fruit juice so you can keep the amount of sugar down.
  • Add some herbs. Parsley and cilantro add an interesting herbal note to your green juice. If you like a stronger parsley flavor, use flat-leaf parsley. Curly parsley is much milder.
  • Boost with superfoods. Try adding ground turmeric, cinnamon, maca powder, or bee pollen to amp up nutrition.

Common Questions

How long can I store this green juice?

This juice is best enjoyed soon after you blend and strain it, though you can keep it in the fridge overnight. Otherwise, it’s super easy to make a new batch on the spot! If you decide to freeze it, just make sure to give it a good shake as it will separate when thawed.

What can I do with the leftover pulp?

You can add the pulp to other smoothies for an extra veggie boost! On the other hand, if you want to keep the pulp and all the fibers with it, you can just blend this as is, to make a smoothie. The texture will just be a bit chunkier.

Can I use a juicer instead?

Yes! This recipe works great with a juicer, if you have one. But as I know many people don’t have juicers, I wanted to show how easy it is to make with a blender.
